A Message from the Foundation’s
Board of Directors
When the D.C. Students Construction Trades
Foundation opened the Academy of Construction and Design in
2005, our partnership with District of Columbia Public Schools
brought skilled trades back to District schools and created
the first new construction education classrooms in nearly
four decades. From our initial discussions with school officials
in 2001, we envisioned the Academy’s training curriculum
would eventually include a professionally supervised building
project in which District students would construct or renovate
a single-family home each year to be offered for sale at market
rate.
If you have already contributed to the Foundation
over its near decade of industry outreach and workforce training,
you have touched the lives of many students. We are grateful
for your generous support. Your continued involvement will
allow us to multiply the powerful effect of mentoring these
students. And, if you are getting acquainted with our mission
and programs for the first time, will you join us? Help us
teach students how to build a house and build their future
in skilled careers.
